change one!

Not a bad change, but we are learning to have the flexibility to roll with the changes. Our initial plan was to spend a couple of days in Red Wing, get the boat ready to go, and then head downriver. However, the feds have other plans and Julie has to go to a doctor appointment in Helena that can't be virtual (of course) at the end of June. So we will now hang out in Red Wing, continue to get the boat readier than ready and we'll make some journeys up and down the Mississippi in this area for a month. We'll rent a car and zip back to Montana for the appointment, and then zip back here and head downriver. Flexibility, baby!

There are a pair of eagles who live in a tree about a hundred yards away. We can hear them talking and they have flown over us many times. 'Murica!!! It's not that we didn't see a lot of eagles (both Golden and Bald) in Montana, but it's nice to be so familiar with them. Two boats ago, on the USS PBR, we were drifting down Hauser Lake on a beautiful sunny day. We heard eagles calling and then caught sight of a female Golden eagle, about 100 feet in the air, kind of just dangling there. We were ecstatic to see her, and then we watched as she called to her fledglings, which were going from fenceposts to bushes, learning to fly! Then the male showed up, and he glided with the female, his feet were hanging down, the sun glinting off of their feathers. It is a memory forever etched in our minds. We drifted for about half an hour until they were out of sight.

For fans of Biscuit...

I just wish Biscuit was more comfortable, poor sweet baby
I love reading your writing, Daddy! I vote you write another book! If you will, I will 😅
ALTHOUGH at first when I was reading about the eagles I thought for sure that a LOTR reference was coming ..
Love the story! I didn’t know the old boat was the USS PBR - should have guessed!🤣.#TeamBiscuit❤️❤️🐶
