Lunch on the water duh duh duh daduh

Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple if you didn't get the riff...

Thursday, June 5.  Stardate…um…Thursday, June 5.  I am unfamiliar with the Trekkie stuff, give me Star Wars any day of the week.  Anyhoo, about our boating adventure for Thursday.  We devised a checklist over our celebratory bourbon yesterday.  Number 1: walk the dog before we start.  Checklist included things like Julie taking a life jacket and water forward with her.  With the previous days excursion fresh in our minds, we fired everything up and headed out.

Biscuit isn't too sure about the guy driving the boat.

Departure was smoother than before, we went in a southerly direction this time about 4 miles or so downriver.  Passed a couple of cool, big barges.  Found an app that will allow us to track commercial boat traffic, which can come in handy if we are trying to get to a lock.  It’ll be a race then, and our boat did the Kessel Run in 147 parsecs.  Anyhoo, we saw eagles and boats and the intercom system again worked fantastic.

Frankly, I don't blame him.

We stopped after an hour and had lunch, just calmly drifting on the water, exactly what we did back on Houser Lake in Montana.  Turned around and came back to the Marina, and did even better at backing into the slip than yesterday.  What’s more, there were other boaters around and they all came over the lend a hand with the lines.  It’s a friendly community, I assume every Marina we go to folks will help out when someone is docking and we will do the same.

Honestly, that's just a baby barge!

I received this in the mail today, last gift from my fire department.  Many thanks to Jay and Michelle, Nicki, Starburst, the Professor and all the gang back in York.  I’ve said this before about the Department.  I served 21 years in the Marines and worked with outstanding people in some very specialized units.  Finally got my chance at going to war in 2003.  In the fire service, training is continual (like the Marines), but the opportunity to utilize that training is immediate – there’s no waiting period.  Working my way through the ranks to get elected as Chief became one of the hardest things I’ve done, and also one of the most rewarding.  I was honored and blessed to be in both organizations.

God bless all ya’ll!

If you had to make a list to take the dog for a walk, does that mean he had a Wilson moment and left you a present?!
