out for a spin

Monday, June 23. Red Wing, MN.
The heat wave has moved on, taking the high winds with it, so we hit the seas today. First we went to the fuel dock to have our black water tank pumped out, then Julie asked if we could go for a spin. I said sure, and we went upriver to the lock.

Of course, it was all impromptu, so we weren’t wearing our Marriage Saving Devices, didn’t start the GPS tracker, etc. Just a fun little boat ride. I’ve been wondering what our fuel consumption will be as well as our average speed. Hard to tell at this point. Today we were motoring along at around 11 mph, felt like the engines were just happy at 1900 rpm, it created a gentle breeze in the cockpit. We will be really happy to finally get started on the boat portion of our trip…

We docked “perfectly” at the fuel dock, and same way backing into our berth. 8 mph winds were not an issue. I’m getting the hang of it – both through practice and constantly thinking about it. We’ll see if we can get a video posted shortly, hopefully one where I can say the same words as my hero Super Dave Osborne: “I could be wrong.”

For all the Fans Of Biscuit, he had a rough weekend between thunder and strong winds. Was on medicines a couple of times, but today he seems much more like himself. He says “hi!” to everyone and hopes you are doing well. He also mentioned that no one has sent him any treats… (he likes Woodford Reserve).
We will be zipping out to Montana for a 16-hour visit, and be back here on Sunday. Probably won’t have any time to post a blog, so we’ll talk to you next week!
Blessings to all ya’ll!
P.S. I have just been told to tell you that everything I told you is wrong and I disagree with all of it. We will post this week whilst travelling…
Agree with Christie and Maggy! Love you!!
You better keep posting!
Prayers for a good appointment for Julie.💕🙏
