Two Weeks Out

Hi folks, still trying to figure out this blog thing (how to add photos and videos). I assume you can add photos and videos. Background on the two weeks out: we are in Montana at Falcon Ranch outside of the capitol city of Helena. Our boat is in Red Wing, MN having been expertly cared for by Marine Specialties in Red Wing. In two weeks we will be driving a U-Haul out to Red Wing with the clothes and assorted items that will be going on the boat, also conveniently named Falcon Ranch.

Once we get to Red Wing and get loaded up, we'll start heading down the Mississippi River with no set schedule or true destination. We are most likely going to meet the Illinois River just north of St. Louis and go upriver to Chicago and Lake Michigan for the summer. Everything is flexible and subject to change at short notice - many boaters and loopers have noted that weather is the most important part of this trip. Always better to avoid storms if possible.

It's obviously going to be an adventure and we are looking forward to it and will post many more photos and videos as we go. Let me see if I can do another photo...

We are going to miss our Montana home and are looking forward to coming back from time to time. Just not when it is -30. Or there is two feet of heavy snow. We once had a three-week period where the high temperature was zero. It was so cold that our septic tank froze...it was an adventure of the most unpleasant kind! You do NOT want to know what happens when you flush a toilet inside the house and you have a frozen septic tank.
